Inspire Wellness for Life
Inspire Wellness for Life is our comprehensive wellness program. We believe that by approaching every facet of wellness, we can improve our residents’ quality of life. Everyone experiences the program differently, as we use individual preferences to guide the plan for each resident.
Using evidence-based research, we’ve developed this wellness program to:
- Improve cognition
- Reduce falls
- Alleviate pain
- Decrease depression
7 Dimensions of Wellness
By focusing on the 7 Dimensions of Wellness, we can help residents develop a higher quality of life overall.
The 7 Dimensions of Wellness are:
- Physical: Choosing a happy, active lifestyle.
- Spiritual: Living with meaning & purpose.
- Social: Interacting with others every day.
- Emotional: Acknowledging and accepting feelings.
- Intellectual: Engaging in creative pursuits.
- Vocational: Expression through talents & passions.
- Environmental: Respecting & caring for our surroundings.
Respite & Recovery
While most of our residents live with us long term, we do offer short-term respite and recovery accommodations. People usually choose respite and recovery care for 1 of 3 reasons.
Trying Community Living
The first reason people choose respite and recovery is to try out community living and decide if it is the right choice for them. By staying with us for 7 days or longer, potential residents can try out our community and get a taste for everything we have to offer. There is absolutely no obligation after your short term stay. However, most of our short-term residents like us so much that they decide to live with us long term.
Recovering From Injury or Illness
The second reason people choose respite and recovery is to heal from an injury or illness. If you’ve recently gotten sick or injured, your independent lifestyle may be temporarily impractical for you. Our care staff is here to help you with whatever you need while maintaining your dignity and independence. It will be our pleasure to care for you until you’re strong enough to go home.
Temporary Coverage for Full Time Caregivers
The third reason people choose respite and recovery is that their normal caregiver (usually a family member) is temporarily unavailable. We would be delighted to care for you until your full-time caregiver is ready to take over again.
What Does Respite Care Include?
Respite care is available for stays between 7 and 60 days. Your care includes:
- Furnished apartment
- All utilities (except phone)
- 3 meals per day
- Housekeeping
- Weekly linen & personal laundry
- Emergency response system
- Group activities
- 24-hour staffing
- Wellness checks
- Initial assessment & monitoring by trained staff
- Assistance with bathing, grooming, eating, mobility, etc.
- Medication set-up & administration
- Nurse supervision & monitoring by trained staff
Therapy & Rehabilitation
Our communities all offer state-of-the-art therapeutic services like physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other specialized therapy types. If you are recovering from an injury or medical procedure, or moving into a new apartment, our care team will create a customized plan for you. Using different combinations of therapeutic services, we can help you succeed and return to normal life.
We combine traditional therapy techniques with cutting-edge technology designed for elite athletes and altered to support seniors. This combination helps with pain management and gets you back on your feet faster.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is usually about training your muscles and joints to work together as effectively as possible. With some work and commitment, we can help strengthen your body and increase your mobility. The results can include improved balance and stability with less risk of falling.
We also offer several modalities for pain management.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy is designed to help you perform activities of daily living, like bathing, eating, grooming, and transferring from one position to another. This kind of treatment can help you build the strength you need to perform some basic tasks more independently. Occupational therapy also includes an element of safety and position awareness.
Speech Therapy
Speech therapy helps promote strong speech and swallowing skills. This kind of treatment could include dietary recommendations, exercises, and communication strategies.
Visiting Physicians
We want the best for all of our residents. That’s why we partner with physicians to provide onsite primary care. Visiting physicians allow you to get the medical care you need from the comfort and security of your own home.
Hospice Care
Tealwood Senior Living aims to make our residents feel comfortable and fulfilled, no matter what stage of life they’re in. We have partnered with hospice care agencies across our organization. These partnerships allow you to make the most of your time with an ill loved one without worrying about their day-to-day needs. Tealwood is here to provide comfort, convenience, and support during this difficult time.
Enriching Connections Dementia Certification
Our residents suffering from cognitive decline should always be and feel safe and cared for. Our Memory Care and management staff are specially trained to ensure they have the resources and tools necessary to communicate and care for our Memory Care residents.
Enriching Connections is a training program and certification that focuses on enriching the lives of our residents living with dementia, Alzheimer’s, and memory loss. Our goal is for residents to maintain a sense of normalcy and independence in their lives while maintaining a high standard of care.
The program teaches:
- Relationships & Community: Every individual is invited to belong.
- Commitment: Our organizational leaders are actively involved and committed to preserving our culture of person-centered care.
- Certification & Training: All management and Memory Care staff members are certified in dementia care through the Alzheimer’s Association and complete additional dementia training.
- Services: Families can choose care plans that promote personal preferences, dignity, and independence with the aid of our nursing staff.
- Meaningful Life & Engagement: Inspire Wellness for Life is our core program that promotes and maintains the best quality of life.
- Environment: We are dedicated to making continual improvements so that every Tealwood community maintains its dementia-friendly environment.
- Accountability: We continually monitor our processes, operational plans, and culture to sustain our high standards for quality care.
8-8 Programming
For our residents with cognitive impairments, the stability and familiarity of routine are crucial for maintaining a sense of normalcy. The 8-8 program gives residents a structured daily routine without ever sacrificing an engaging and enjoyable lifestyle.
We design thoughtful daily activities so residents remain safe and in control, which has shown to positively affect state of mind, security, and sleep patterns.
Wound Care
Tealwood Senior Living takes a data-driven approach to harm reduction for our residents. We use WoundRounds Wound Management & Risk Prevention System to track patient information and relevant images so that they can be shared with doctors and other care providers. This approach results in fewer hospitalizations, fewer pressure ulcers, and more consistent care for all of our valued residents.
